To increase sales during the three-day New Year’s weekend, two locations of a national furniture retailer promoted a 100% rebate on all furniture purchases made between January 1-3 to customers who correctly predicted the final score of the University of Texas vs. University of Alabama championship game. The retailer said, “We had a lot of energy and excitement built around the promotion. The stores were a winner, as sales for the period were way above last year’s.”
