Money Bags™ Promotion Helped Travelex Boost Sales

Travelex, the world’s largest retail foreign exchange specialist, worked with PIMS-SCA to create “Win a Million”, a big money promotion that encouraged customers to make their foreign currency exchanges at Travelex locations around Australia and New Zealand.

Customers who made an exchange for $400 or more in Australia and $450 or more in New Zealand were eligible to enter in-store or online, using their receipt number.  One name was chosen and awarded a trip to Melbourne for the final event. The contestant chose one envelope from 300. Envelopes contained one of the following prize messages - one million Australian dollars, Mauritius Rupees, Philippines Pesos, Japanese Yen, and Hungarian Forints.

The promotion was a huge success for both Travelex and the contestant. Travelex achieved its objectives by boosting sales and increasing awareness. The contestant went home with 1 million Japanese Yen – equivalent to AUD $10,055 – paid by PIMS-SCA.
