SCAinteractive Wins Three Gold Awards at 2023 NYX Awards

APRIL 19, 2023 DALLAS – The International Awards Associate (IAA) has officially revealed the winners of the 2023 NYX Awards, and SCAinteractive was awarded Gold in three categories for their innovative work on campaigns for Phillips 66, 76, Conoco, and Rogers Sports & Media.

DALLAS – The International Awards Associate (IAA) has officially revealed the winners of the 2023 NYX Awards, and SCAinteractive was awarded Gold in three categories for their innovative work on campaigns for Phillips 66, 76, Conoco, and Rogers Sports & Media. 

The NYX awards recognize and celebrate the epitome of concepts, directions, designs, campaigns, as well as productions from the aspects of marketing, communications and videos. This season, NYX received over 1,500 entries from a diverse range of professionals in specialized fields spanning various countries, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden, and Germany.

At these awards, SCAinteractive’s Wheel of Destiny program, which was designed and administered for Phillips 66, 76, and Conoco, received gold in both the Integrated Marketing – Promotional and the Integrated Marketing – Integrated Mobile Experience categories. Meanwhile, the #ThisIsBig contest, designed and administered for Rogers Sports & Media, won gold in the Marketing Effectiveness – Interactive Brand Experience category.

The Wheel of Destiny program was developed specifically to integrate with the Phillips 66, 76 and Conoco mobile apps. The robust integration allowed SCAi to use a gamified digital experience to encourage app downloads, linking a payment method, and ultimately in-app transactions. With each qualifying in-app fuel purchase, users could spin the Wheel of Destiny. When users won a prize, their cash award was directly and instantly deposited to their account on the app and available for use on a future in-app fuel purchase. Having the app hold actual value was a key to the program’s success, as it encouraged repeat app usage. 

The #ThisIsBig Contest was an innovative twist on a proven Watch and Win concept. The objective of the program was to drive second screen fan engagement alongside increased viewership of Sportsnet broadcasted games of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. At random times during each Sportsnet broadcasted game, a keyword was displayed on the screen. Users would enter this keyword on the Sportsnet website or in their app to gain access to a digital experience. To start the experience, a user was given the opportunity to engage with a digital scratch card for the chance to win an instant prize. Whether the user was an instant winner or not, users were then presented with a random player card for a player from a game Sportsnet was broadcasting that night. As a user’s player scored points in their game, users earned an equal number of entries into draws for additional prizes. The randomness of the game ensured mass appeal to casual and hardcore fans alike and encouraged contestants to watch the games to cheer for their player.
